The Category 6 Consortium was formed in June 2002 to promote the adoption of category 6 after TIA published the category 6 addition to the TIA-568 standard, which has the official document number of ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-1. The mission of the Consortium is to create market and industry awareness — as well as demand — for cabling systems and components based on TIA’s Category 6 cabling standard.
